I deliver my second speech (the title of speech: Brainwave) in Join Meeting Allianz and Essential Toastmaster Club. The meeting was held in Allianz Building
When someone know about my theme, they will think that this theme is too heavy and the speech will be very serious. Some of my friends said “are you serious want to share about it? It is too boring. It is very scientific. Why don’t you choose another theme? “. I often hear the suggestion. At first, I am thinking about changing my topic, but then I realize that this topic is something that I master in, So I don’t need to be worry. And of course this will be very serious because I want to explain about what is Brainwave from science perspective. But, I do believe that I can deliver it as well as my first speech, even better because this is what I master in.
Finally, the day was arrived. I delivered my speech with very enthusiasm and I won the best prepared speech at that moment.

I started my speech with the drama. This is my opening dialogue “I’ve told you not to do that, why do you always make me angry? Why is it so hard for you to understand? You ruin my day”. I read the dialogue with dramatically until all the audience gives their full attention to me.
After my opening dialogue, I try to make a connection with the audience by asking them:
May be, we often hear this conversation at our office or home. When you listen to the statement, what are you thinking about? Am I getting angry? Do you realize that when we get angry, it’s not always about emotion, but it’s also about brain. Our brain is the central point for all the emotional communication within our body.
Honestly, I am very nervous at first. I really need a minutes to regulate my nervousness and take control to my emotion. I gathered my confidence after I looked at audience’s eyes. Suddenly, I can deliver it with full enthusiasm.

In our brain, there are so many neurons that communicate each other through electrical signal. They form a perfect combination of activity to produce our moods, thoughts, and consciousness. The combination of synchronized electrical activity in the brain is called a “brainwave”. Brainwaves produce frequencies. Every frequency will influence your mood. Happy and angry are in 2 different frequencies.”
The Researcher divided it into 5 waves of brain, Gamma, Beta, Alpha, Delta and Theta. But tonight, I will share only two states of brainwave which are Gamma and Alpha.
Gamma brainwave is considered as the brain’s optimal frequency of functioning. Gamma brainwaves helps to improve memory and perception. Gamma is a state when you feel excited and very focused. If you watch a war movie and the general loud “We should fight for freedom or die. Attack! And you can find his soldier answer his speech with Attack! . This situation considered as Gamma brainwaves state.
But, Too much Gamma in you, will make you feel: Anxiety, high arousal, stressed. The phenomenon that we became stressed called “alpha blocking”. It may occurs when involvement gamma activity is too high and there is very little alpha.
What is Alpha? Alpha is the situation when our brain calm and relax. The situation when you can smile like this, or enjoy the music from your heart. So, when stressed up, you need to change the frequency from Gamma to Alpha because all the Stresses and worries will go away when you enter the alpha brainwave state. Tension and Nervousness will disappear and your mind becomes clearer.
The best way to have Alpha wave is through relaxation and meditation or listening to the music that associated with alpha frequencies. Nowadays, The goal of most types of meditation is to lower brainwaves into the alpha brainwave range. By having more alpha brainwaves usually indicates more positive, stable and balanced emotions.
As conclution I want to say, by changing our brain waves follow certain situation, we are able to make people around us feel happier and can help ourselves to make rapid change. When you arrive home after working your child came to you and call “mama…mama…I wanna play with you”, so you able to switch your brainwave from gamma to alpha and say “okay..okay..i wanna play with you too”. Or when your subordinate came to you when you are in a bad mood, you can asked them to wait and then you change your brainwave to alpha by taking a breath and do small meditation. And when you are ready, you can asked them to come, and everything will be great.

When I finished my speech, All the audience gives me a huge applause that can encourage me to give more speech in front of them. This is what I like about toastmaster, no matter what they will give their best support for you to be a better you.
